TaxCut Premium for FREE!

The general consensus from various reviews is that TurboTax is the best, TaxCut is close second (and better in some ways), TaxAct is third.

1) TurboTax Deluxe for federal + state is $37 at Costco, $40 at Amazon. You will pay $15 for each efile (so $30 for both federal & state).

2) TaxCut Premium (Federal + State) is $26.95 at Amazon.  You will pay $16 for each efile.

3) TaxAct download is basically $20 for federal + state.  Federal efile is free, but you will pay $8 for state efile.

TaxAct is great for people with simple returns, but has less helpful advice and features and may be a little too simple for the likes of us. So I think TaxCut is the right choice.  I've used it for the past few years. (Before that I used TurboTax).
